Early Earth gas tholin sample produced from nitrogen:methane:carbon dioxide:oxygen (N₂:CH₄:CO₂:O₂ with a 99.7998:0.1:0.1:0.0002 ratio) gas precursors by UV photolysis at 293 K (20 °C) temperature and 620 Torr pressure at University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, USA.
Tholin sample produced as spherical particles with sizes ranging from 175 to 350 nm.
The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined from optical measurements done at a temperature of 293 K (20 °C) and a pressure of 620 Torr, by photoacoustic spectroscopy and cavity ringdown spectroscopy at λ = 405 nm.
Error bars/uncertainties are provided in the downloadable data.
