Water:methane (H₂O:CH₄ with a 1:0.6 ratio) ice mixture deposited at 16 K onto a cesium iodide (CsI) substrate, then irradiated with ⁵⁸Ni¹¹⁺ ion projectiles with energies of 40 MeV to a fluence of 1E12 ions.cm⁻², and held at 16 K during spectroscopic measurements.

The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined using optical measurements done at a temperature of 16 K, by infrared transmission spectroscopy from 5000 to 600 cm⁻¹ with a resolution of 1 cm⁻¹.

The absorption (A) spectrum is also provided in this dataset.

The irradiated H₂O:CH₄ ice mixture and its infrared spectra were produced and collected at Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds (GANIL), Caen, France and published in Mejía, de Barros et al. (2020), while the optical constants provided here were calculated with the NKABS ("N and K determination from ABSorbance data") code and published in Rocha et al. (2017).
