Metastable cubic crystalline water (H₂O) ice (Ic ice) deposited at 150 K onto a potassium bromide (KBr), zinc selenide (ZnSe) or cesium iodide (CsI) substrate, then cooled down to 90 K, and held at 90 K during spectroscopic measurements.

The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined using optical measurements done at a temperature of 90 K and a pressure of ~1E-8 mbar, by infrared transmission spectroscopy from 1.1 to 22.1 µm.
