Metastable crystalline propylene (C₃H₆) ice deposited at 65 K onto a cesium iodide (CsI) or potassium bromide (KBr) substrate, and held at 65 K during spectroscopic measurements.
The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined using optical measurements done at a temperature of 65 K, by infrared transmission spectroscopy from 5000 to 500 cm⁻¹ with a resolution of 0.5 cm⁻¹.
