CH₄ Ice at 30 K

Ice Datasets
Description
Sample Type Ice
Components CH₄
Ratio 1
Substrate CsI
Phase / State
Reference Temperature 30 K
Wavenumber (cm⁻¹) 1000.2 - 3699.7
Wavelength (µm) 2.703 - 9.998

Methane (CH₄) ice deposited at 10 K onto a cesium iodide (CsI) substrate, then warmed up to 30 K, and held at 30 K during spectroscopic measurements.

The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined using optical measurements done at a temperature of 30 K, by infrared transmission spectroscopy from 3700 to 1000 cm⁻¹ with a resolution of 1 cm⁻¹ across the CH₄ features and 2 cm⁻¹ across the rest of the spectrum.
