Crystalline water (H₂O) ice (hexagonal ice Iₕ) deposited at 173 K onto cesium iodide (CsI), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), and wedge-shaped LDPE substrates, then cooled down to 100 K, and held at 100 K during spectroscopic measurements.
The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined using optical measurements done at a temperature of 100 K, by infrared transmission spectroscopy from 8000 to 30 cm⁻¹ with a resolution of 1-3 cm⁻¹.
