Ice tholins/ice residues produced from ion irradiation of nitrogen:methane:carbon monoxide (N2:CH4:CO with a 1:1:1 ratio) ice precursors representative of the surfaces of Trans Neptunian Objects (TNO) and comets in the Oort cloud.
Ice mixture deposited at 16 K onto magnesium fluoride (MgF2) and potassium bromide (KBr) substrates, held at 16 K during 200 keV He+ ion irradiation, then warmed up to room temperature.
The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined using optical measurements done at room temperature, by infrared transmission spectroscopy from 84000 to 500 cm⁻¹.
