Pure CH2CHCN (1) Ice at 95 K

Description
Sample Type Ice
Components CH2CHCN
Ratio 1
Substrate KRS-5 (for the mid-infrared region) and PE (for the far-infrared region)
Reference Temperature 95 K
Wavenumber (cm⁻¹) 87 - 700
Wavelength (µm) 14.286 - 114.943

Crystalline acrylonitrile (CH2CHCN) ice deposited at a temperature between 50 and 100 K onto thallium bromoiodide (KRS-5) and polyethylene (PE) substrates, then annealed at 130 K and cooled down to 95 K, and held at 95 K during spectroscopic measurements.

The real (n) and imaginary (k) parts of the complex index of refraction were determined using optical measurements done at a temperature of 95 K and a pressure in the range of ~10⁻⁷ Torr, by infrared transmission spectroscopy from 700 to 87 cm⁻¹ with a resolution of 1 cm⁻¹ in the mid-infrared region and 4 cm⁻¹ in the far-infrared region.
